iPod Reset Sequence

The iPod reset sequence is important to know about in the event you have problems. It’s good to know how to do this in advance, to save you a lot of needless frustration. In many cases, a simple reset is all it takes to make your iPod work correctly again.
You can generally be sure that using the reset feature won’t harm any of your downloads. Any problems that do result in data loss are likely to be more serious than what would be resolved with a reset.
If you start having problems, going through the iPod reset sequence may very well resolve it. The first thing you should do is use the Hold Setting, immediately turning it back off again.
The next course of action is putting the iPod on some flat surface. This action does influence how successful your reset will be. The Menu and Select buttons will need to be pressed at the same time. After about eight seconds, you should see the Apple logo displayed on the screen.
Some iPod models do have a slightly different set of instructions. As with other models, the Hold button will need to be used first. Once again, you’ll need to place the player on a flat surface. The Play, Pause and Menu buttons are the ones that need to be held down. Give it about eight seconds to see if the iPod is rebooting. Once you see the logo, you’re ready to use it again.
If the previous steps in the iPod reset sequence have been unsuccessful, you can repeat them until the Apple logo becomes visible. After you see the logo, you should be able to resume your regular activities. In the event a reset doesn’t help, consult your iPod’s owners’ manual. It will have a troubleshooting guide to help you determine the cause of the problem.
Usually, a few simple steps are required. If none of these steps are working, you’ll need to contact an authorized Apple service technician. You should always use an Apple technician, since they are better qualified to solve problems with Apple devices.
