Hi my son has the 4th generation ipod and he was updating it on his laptop but he lost internet connection now his ipod just has a black screen with the apple on and nothing will work please help xx

my ipod was froze.but when i turn it off the music is still on and when i tap it no number appeared even if the passcode is correct..what should i do..??????

idk wats wrong with my i pod it has a white page and it says ok to disconnect but its already disconnected i reseted it then it turns off then i turn it on then it just goes back to the same screen idk plz help meee.
PS. my i pod is the 5th generation
