Reset iPod – How to Reset Your iPod

Many people need to reset their iPod but few know how to do it. There are unfortunate occasions where your iPod may experience hiccups.

When this happens, it is best if you are prepared. Learning to reset an iPod is one of the best things you can do as an iPod owner in order to save yourself a lot of time and frustration.

Keep in mind that different models may require different steps in order to reset. However, the majority of iPods follow a similar sequence. If these steps do not work for you then you may need to consult Apple’s directions for your specific model.

The first thing you need to do is to set your iPod to the “hold setting.” Then, turn this back off again.

After you have switched this on and then off again you will need to set the iPod on a flat surface. That is important! Many people miss this step and then are unsuccessful resetting their iPod.

The next step is to hold the “menu” and “select” buttons at the same time. At this point the “Apple” logo will come on your screen. This process will take about eight seconds. If this does not happen for you, repeat those steps until you are successful.

If you have a regular iPod, scroll wheel iPod, touch wheel iPod, or dock connector iPod you will need to follow a slightly different set of steps in order to reset iPod. The first step is the same as in the above set of directions, and you will toggle the “hold button” on and off.

Next, hold the “play, pause, and menu buttons at the same time. The “Apple” logo should show up on your screen in about eight seconds. Viola! You should have an iPod that is as good as new.

Now, you may worry that taking the steps to reset an iPod will eliminate all of your hard work and data. Thankfully, this is not true!

Most of your data will still be there after the resetting process. So that means that if you have downloaded music, movies, TV shows and games, the information will not be lost.

Of course, if you find that your iPod is still not working you will need to take more drastic measures. Don’t worry, though! There are many ways for you to fix your iPod without having to buy a whole new one.

Having to reset iPod can be a scary thing. You may think that all of your great entertainment will be lost forever. Thankfully, that is not the case. Resetting your iPod is an easy task that is well worth the results.

I guess it would all be okay, ’cause the reset works for me all right, only that it doesn’t give aby effects. My iPod has frozen on the point of choosing a language some two weeks ago and no matter what I try, after reseting it it’s stuck on the same point and the buttons don’t work, except hold and the combination for reseting.
Worst still, iTunes won’t work on my computer. I’ve got a pirate copy of Windows and I don’t know if that’s why it doesn’t turn on, but without them I can’t do anything and I still have to wait until I’ll get another software and reinstall the system.
If you know what to do (not including reinstalling iTunes cause I tried it many times already), please mail me (itaczi[at]gmail.com).

    Thanks ;P

My IPod was frozen for some reason, now I can use it immediately instead of waiting until the battery is empty.

Just wanted to point out on a classic you don’t need to lock and unlock or the flat surface thing-not sure if that’s true on other modles.
